Silva21: adapting forestry to global changes in order to maintain the sustainability of wood supplies

Tuesday, November 23, at 9:00 am – Hybrid event in French
Welcome at 8:45 a.m. in the Gilbert-Tardif room (GHK-2320-2330) at Université Laval

To promote a better knowledge of the fields of expertise of the researchers of the Research Centre on Renewable Materials (CRMR) and to stimulate collaborations between its members, we have set up a series of lectures in hybrid mode during which the guest speaker will talk about his or her research program, his or her way of working, his or her needs in terms of collaboration, etc. This presentation will be followed by a question and answer period and/or discussion. We will then invite you to contribute to the virtual suggestion box where you can enter your ideas for research questions, themes, projects, activities, etc.

The second guest is Alexis Achim. Alexis is a professor at the Faculty of Forestry, Geography and Geomatics of Laval University in the Department of Wood and Forest Sciences, Director and researcher of the CRMR and the MRQ network. He is the leader of an ambitious research program aimed at adapting silviculture to new climatic and environmental realities: Silva21. The project has received $5.5 million in funding over five years, including $3.4 million from NSERC’s Alliance grant program and $2.1 million from some 15 public and private partners. It is this research program that will be discussed at this conference!

You can attend the event in person or online. Specific instructions will be sent to you before the event. For those who wish to attend in person, the event will take place at the Gene-H.-Kruger building of Université Laval, in the Gilbert-Tardif room (GHK-2320-2330).

We look forward to seeing you there!
