Véronic Landry awarded an FRQS DIALOGUE funding!

29 September 2023

Congratulations to Véronic Landry , professor at the Faculty of forestry, geography and geomatics -Laval University, and director of the renewable materials research Centre (CRMR), who has been awarded a grant from the DIALOGUE program of the Fonds de recherche du Québec (FRQ), as the principal investigator to support scientific communication in relation to the main prejudices associated with wood materials. For example: Is wood really suitable for multi-storey buildings? Can it withstand weather and fire? A wooden house burns easily! Wooden construction leads to deforestation, etc.

This initiative, entitled « SANS LANGUE DE BOIS» will receive $33,105 over two years from the Fonds de recherche du Québec- Santé (FRQS) and can count on the expertise of a multidisciplinary team and its main partner, Agence IMPAKT Scientifik, which specializes in scientific communication!

The research team consists of Véronic Landry (principal applicant), collaborating professors from the CRMR (Robert Beauregard, Évelyne Thiffault, Pierre Blanchet, Alexis Achim, Alexandre Morin-Bernard) and  the Faculty of Education (Sylvie Barma), the CRMR coordinator (Besma Bouslimi), as well as several undergraduate and graduate students.

The aim of the project is to promote research and science, and to interact with three distinct target audiences : primary and secondary school children, CEGEP students and the general public. To attract the interest of different audiences, the project aims to use co-construction activities for dissemination and communication materials, in order to provide the widest possible target audience with scientific elements that will lead to a better understanding of wood-related topics. Presentations, videos and podcasts will be developed based on interactions with the various target audiences, enabling us to identify the most promising topics.

Stay tuned for publications from this initiative, SANS LANGUE DE BOIS !
