On April 24, 2024, a successful workshop entitled “Research at the Montmorency Forest” was held, brilliantly organized and moderated by Evelyne Thiffault. The event highlighted the various research projects carried out in the Montmorency Forest, as well as the facilities and services available to meet the needs of both male and female researchers. The day ended with a presentation by Alexis Achim, Vice-Dean for Research and full professor in the Faculty of Forestry, Geography, and Geomatics, on “The Future of Research at the Montmorency Forest”.
This forest is much more than just a wooded area. It is an immense open-air laboratory, providing a fertile ground for teaching, research, and public education, particularly in the field of boreal forest lands. Its strategic location, less than 80 km from Laval University’s main campus, makes it easily accessible to students, researchers, and interested members of the general public. It also offers a multitude of opportunities for exploration and study, making a significant contribution to the development of knowledge in the forestry field.
Many thanks to all the speakers and participants!
Thanks also to Carine Océane Dublineau and Natacha Fontaine for their commitment and involvement in organizing this major event.
