You are cordially invited to Rod Stirling’s conference, entitled « Wood Modification and Preservation », to be held on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m., in Room 1358 of the Gene-H.-Kruger Pavilion (GHK-1358).

This conference is organized as part of the GBO-3010: Drying and Preservation I course, under the responsibility of Professor Véronic Landry.

Rod Stirling holds a B.Sc. in chemistry from the University of Victoria and a Ph.D. in wood science from the University of British Columbia. Since 2005 he has held a variety of research and management positions at FPInnovations, serving currently as Manager of Biomaterials and Director of the Vancouver lab. He is an Adjunct Professor at UBC Department of Wood Science, an Associate Editor of Forest Products Journal, and has published more than 30 refereed papers. His research has primarily focused on natural durability, decay detection, and evaluating performance of wood protection technologies. He is the current president of the International Research Group on Wood Protection, and past president of the Canadian Wood Preservation Association. Dr. Stirling is active in standardization as Vice-Chair of the CSA Technical Committee on Wood Preservation and Chair of the American Wood Protection Association Committee of evaluation methods.
