Final of ULaval of the Three Minute Thesis Competition: March 26
The Faculté des études supérieures et postdoctorales (FESP) invites you to attend the live final of Université Laval of the Three Minute Thesis competition. The event will take place on Tuesday March 26 at 12pm, Amphithéâtre Hydro-Québec, pavillon Alphonse-Desjardins, Université Laval. Watch the event live on YouTube.
It’s an opportunity to encourage and support, in particular, our two finalists Alex Mary and Vahideh Akbari, members of the CRMR, who represent the FFGG!
The 3MT is an internationally recognized competition for thesis-based graduate students in which participants present their scholarly and creative activity and its wider impact in 3 minutes or less. The challenge is to present complex research in an accessible and compelling way with the assistance of only one static slide. Doctoral-level finalists, selected from within their faculty, will give a clear, concise and convincing presentation on their research project. The public will be invited to ask questions to the finalists and will be voting for the People’s Choice award to a finalist in each of the components. The final will be available for replay.
The winner of the French-speaking part will represent Université Laval in the national grand final presented by Acfas. The winner of the English-speaking part will compete in the CAGS Eastern Canada Final (presented in Quebec city on June, 7) as well as that of the Northeastern Association of Graduate Schools (NAGS) which will take place virtually, on Friday, April 26, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. EST.
Prizes:
• 1st prize: $1000 offered by the FESP
• 2nd prize: $600 offered by the FESP
• People’s Choice award: $250 offered by the FESP
