We are pleased to announce that Luciana Gondim de Almeida Guimaraes, a doctoral student in wood and bio-based materials engineering, and member of the Renewable Materials Research Centre, has been awarded the Johanne Dubois and André Laperrière scholarship from the Interuniversity Research Centre for Enterprise Networks, Logistics and Transportation (CIRRELT), valued at $1,000.
This scholarship recognizes his academic skills and his contribution to establishing a mode of governance to foster collaboration between companies in the prefabricated construction industry.

Part of the NSERC Industrial Research Chair on Eco-responsible Wood Construction (CIRCERB), Luciana aims to determine «the elements required to develop a business model for the internationalization of SMEs in the prefabricated construction sector», under the direction of Pierre Blanchet. More specifically, this research project aims to develop a business model for a group of partner small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) wishing to enter the North American prefabricated construction market. To achieve this objective, the project is carrying out analyses of the operational and financial risks associated with projects in the prefabricated construction sector when operating in foreign markets, and will also identify the specific challenges associated with expanding into the North American Northeast market. In addition, this project highlights the factors involved in choosing a governance model for establishing collaboration between companies in the prefabricated construction industry.
