During this session, Mr. Nabuurs highlighted the central role of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), the UN’s leading body responsible for the scientific assessment of climate change. Active within the IPCC since 1999, he has contributed as a reviewer and Coordinating Lead Author, particularly on issues related to forestry and land use.
A Professor of Forest Resources at the University and Research Centre of Wageningen, Mr. Nabuurs is recognized for his work on carbon sequestration and sustainable forest management in Europe. During the webinar, he shared insights into the IPCC report drafting process and explained how these reports concretely influence policy decisions and international climate negotiations.
