The Wood and Forest Sciences Department and the Renewable Materials Research Center are inviting you to the conference of Vicky Vaskelis, Co-President and General Manager of the RéUTILisONs Virtual Sorting Center, entitled « Prevention and reduction of end-of-life impacts of office furniture », to be held on March 14, 2024 at 2 p.m., in room 2320-2330 of the Gene-H.-Kruger Pavilion at Université Laval, in Quebec City. The conference will be in French.

In this talk, Vicky Vaskelis will share her observations and recommended solutions for addressing these issues upstream, to transform our linear consumption model into a circular one:

- During after-sales service (Upcycling)
- During work sessions for space reorganization
- When drawing up invitations to tender for removal services
- When disposing of surplus furniture
Case studies and real-life success stories illustrate how these innovative approaches can be successfully applied in the office furniture sector and any other type of industry. About the speaker
Vicky Vaskelis has helped over 800 entrepreneurs and professionals optimize their businesses and manufacturing processes. She is also the owner of 9 businesses operating in different fields: coaching, real estate, administrative support, etc. She has taught at EEB, Concordia University, and Laval University’s Center for Training in Sustainable Development. Vicky is co-president of the RéUTILisONs Virtual Sorting Center. With her team, they have developed an online platform that marks a significant advance in the field of the circular economy for office furniture. It offers a turnkey solution for optimizing the reuse of office furniture and directing it towards recycling rather than landfill. As such, it has witnessed the omissions made in the design and manufacture of this type of furniture, as well as their devastating end-of-life effects. It is therefore in an excellent position to offer a range of solutions applicable to the design and manufacture of furniture, to reduce its harmful impact on the environment.
