Tiam Mahmoudian Unveils the First Results of Her Doctoral Research on Material Durability at the 5th Annual CQMF QCAM Symposium

19 December 2025

Tiam Mahmoudian had the honor of presenting the first results of her doctoral research at the 5th Annual CQMF QCAM Student Symposium, held on November 10, 2025, at ÉTS Montréal. Her participation took place in two complementary formats: a 3-minute lightning talk and a poster presentation, allowing her both to summarize her findings and engage in in-depth discussions with the scientific community.

Under the supervision of Professor Alain Cloutier, her research focuses on the durability of particleboard and MDF panels for outdoor applications, using accelerated aging tests and hygrothermal analyses. This work aims to better understand the impact of moisture on these engineered materials and to provide essential data to optimize their performance under real-world conditions.

During her lightning talk, Tiam captivated the audience by concisely presenting the origin of the problem as well as the promising initial results of her project. The poster session offered an opportunity for in-depth exchanges on experimental data, developed models, and future perspectives, bringing her research to life and fostering engaging discussions with participants.

Presenting these first results marks an important milestone in Tiam Mahmoudian’s doctoral journey, highlighting the scientific relevance and potential impact of her work for the materials industry. Enthusiastic and motivated, she looks forward to continuing her research to further understand and improve the durability of particleboard and MDF panels under real conditions, thereby contributing to sustainable solutions for the sector.
