The CRMR Welcomes Diane Schorr to Véronique Landry’s Research Team

The CRMR is pleased to welcome Diane Schorr to Professor Véronique Landry’s research team.

Diane Schorr is a Research Professional in Professor Véronique Landry’s group. Recognized for her expertise in analytical chemistry, wood science, and bio-based materials, she has built an extensive career spanning fundamental research, technological development, and collaboration with industry partners.

She holds a Master’s degree in Analytical Chemistry and a Ph.D. in Wood Science from Université Laval, where her research focused on the characterization and modification of industrial lignins. Through this work, Diane developed strong expertise in the analysis, characterization, and valorization of renewable materials. Her postdoctoral research concentrated on improving the durability and performance of wood intended for outdoor applications, contributing to the development of more sustainable solutions for the forest sector.

Throughout her career, Diane has gained extensive experience in applied research, particularly at FPInnovations, where she led and coordinated numerous projects related to wood protection, composite materials development, panel manufacturing and characterization, volatile organic compound (VOC) and formaldehyde emissions, as well as the valorization of bio-based materials. These achievements enabled her to collaborate with industrial, academic, and governmental partners across Canada and internationally, while developing recognized expertise in project management, innovation, and technology transfer.

She later continued her career as a Research Professional within MATERIO, Université Laval’s materials characterization platform, in partnership with the Institut des matériaux durables (Institute for Sustainable Materials). There, she contributed to the design and delivery of projects tailored to industrial partners’ needs, supporting every stage of the process, from defining scientific objectives to analyzing and interpreting results.

Diane’s arrival in Véronique Landry’s team further strengthens the group’s expertise in bio-based materials, materials characterization, and applied research. Through her multidisciplinary perspective, in-depth knowledge of renewable materials, and ability to bridge research and industry needs, she actively contributes to the development of innovative and sustainable solutions while fostering strategic collaborations with academic and industrial partners.
