The Climate Change Advisory Committee Welcomes Evelyne Thiffault!

The Climate Change Advisory Committee is proud to announce the appointment of Ms. Evelyne Thiffault, Full Professor in the Department of Wood and Forest Sciences at Laval University and Co-Director of the Renewable Materials Research Centre. Her addition to the Committee strengthens its multidisciplinary expertise, which is essential to addressing the challenges of climate change.

A renowned forest engineer, Ms. Thiffault is renowned for her research into sustainable forest management, carbon sequestration, and adaptation to climate change impacts. Through her work, she has demonstrated how the forestry sector can play a central role in the ecological transition.

With her appointment, Professor Thiffault aims to emphasize the potential of Québec’s forests in combating climate change. Her vision combines scientific rigor with ambition, striving to position Québec as a leader in ecological innovation and climate resilience.

About the Climate Change Advisory Committee:

Established in 2022, the Climate Change Advisory Committee plays a strategic role in shaping Québec’s environmental policies. Independent from government, it provides advice based on rigorous scientific analyses and informed recommendations. To date, the Committee has published several major reports with numerous recommendations on critical topics, including carbon neutrality, innovation, land-use planning, biodiversity, sustainable transportation, and climate accountability.

Comprising 13 members primarily from academia, the Committee brings together experts recognized for their contributions to environmental science, ecological economics, and social sciences, offering a multidisciplinary approach to the ecological transition.
