Invitation to the CRMR Annual Symposium « Sustainable Innovation in the Face of Climate Challenges! » – October 22 & 23, 2025, registration required!

From 22 October to 23 October 2025

The Renewable Materials Research Center (CRMR) is pleased to invite you to its annual symposium, on the theme « Sustainable Innovation in the Face of Climate Challenges! ». This event will be held in person on October 22, 2025 (8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.) and October 23, 2025 (8:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.) at the Gene H. Kruger Pavilion (rooms 2320–2330) of Université Laval, in Québec City.

The symposium aims to bring together CRMR members and experts to explore concrete solutions to climate challenges through scientific innovation, renewable materials, and sustainable practices. The program includes a poster session showcasing student projects, inspiring talks on recent advances, interactive booths dedicated to plant identification, a large-scale fire lab demonstration, and a roundtable titled « Limits and Opportunities in the Reuse of Construction Materials », which brings together experts from various disciplines to share perspectives and identify tangible courses of action.

Your participation and insights will be essential to enrich discussions and ensure the success of this event. To confirm your attendance, please complete the registration form no later than October 15, 2025.

We look forward to seeing many of you at this symposium, which promises to be rich in discoveries, exchanges, and collaborations!

⚠️ Important: All members — research, technical, and administrative staff, faculty, and the student community — must register to be able to participate.

Students and postdoctoral fellows are warmly invited to take part in the poster session, an excellent opportunity to highlight their research projects. To maximize visibility and foster exchanges, each participant will have 3 minutes for a lightning presentation, supported by a single slide. A great opportunity to showcase your work and share your ideas!

A preliminary program of the day is attached. Logistic details and the full program will be shared later.

Information about the poster competition and participation guidelines is provided below.

Poster Competition

During the symposium, a student poster competition will be held to provide an opportunity to present your research projects. It is open to master’s and doctoral students as well as postdoctoral fellows, regardless of the stage of their project (beginning, mid-course, or final). To showcase your work and encourage dynamic exchanges, each participant will also have 3 minutes for a lightning presentation, supported by a single slide.

The top three posters will be awarded prizes of $350, $250, and $150, and a special prize will be given for the best postdoctoral poster, highlighting the originality and quality of the research presented.

Main criteria for poster preparation:

  • Clarity and accessibility: the poster must be well-explained and understandable to a diverse audience, including people from different research fields.
  • Structure: the poster must include the following sections: Introduction, Methodology, Results (or Expected Results, depending on project progress), and Conclusions.
  • Conclusions: they should highlight the scope of the project and its potential industrial impacts or other expected outcomes.
  • Format: posters from past events in horizontal format are accepted. New posters should be prepared in vertical format (91.4 × 121.2 cm) to facilitate handling during the event.
  • Language: posters may be written in French or English.
  • Evaluation: posters will be judged on aesthetics, quality of scientific communication, clarity of presentation, and relevance of scientific content.
  • Lightning presentation: each student will also be evaluated on their 3-minute lightning presentation, which must concisely and effectively summarize their project using a single slide.

Dear students and postdoctoral fellows, we strongly encourage you to participate in the poster session of our symposium — an ideal opportunity to present your projects, receive constructive feedback, and network with experts. It is also a great chance to highlight your research and compete for attractive prizes.

To participate, please register by October 6, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. via this registration form. We will confirm your participation and provide detailed guidelines after the registration period.
