The Québec City Ambassadors’ Circle awarded a prestigious prize to Alexis Achim (Université Laval), Nicholas Coops (The University of British Columbia), and their teams for the outstanding organization of one of the ten most significant events of 2025. The award ceremony took place on February 12, 2026.
The Silvilaser 2025 conference, co-organized by their laboratories, was held from September 14 to 18, 2025, and stood out as one of the international events that generated the greatest tourism impact in the Québec City region that year.
The international forest remote sensing conference, hosted at the Québec City Convention Centre, brought together more than 260 participants from 28 countries, highlighting the global reach of the event and Québec City’s role as a center of scientific excellence.
This award is shared with the organizing committee: Amy Wotherspoon, Emmanuelle Baby-Bouchard, and Catherine Chagnon, as well as with all collaborators and volunteers who contributed to the event’s success.
This distinction recognizes not only the scientific and organizational excellence of the teams led by Alexis Achim and Nicholas Coops, but also their role in enhancing Québec City’s international reputation as a leading scientific destination.
