Redaction retreat at Forêt Montmorency !
The Association of Forestry Graduate Students at Laval University (AFOR), in collaboration with the Chair of Leadership in Education and Indigenous Forestry, is organising a writing retreat from Wednesday 16 to Friday 18 October in the Forêt Montmorency!
The event will be based on the Pomodoro technique, providing you with an environment conducive to concentration and productivity. You’ll also have the opportunity to take part in a range of activities, including group discussions, forest walks, a yoga session and moments of relaxation. However, the focus of the programme remains on time devoted to writing (or other individual work as part of your thesis or dissertation; yes, you can do data analysis too!).
The cost of participation is $120 per participant, thanks to the financial support of the Fonds d’enseignement et de recherche (FER) of the Faculty of Forestry, Geography and Geomatics, the Centre interuniversitaire d’études et de recherches autochtones (CIÉRA) and the Centre d’étude de la forêt (CEF) of the Université Laval. Transport, meals and accommodation are included (except for the first dinner, for which you are invited to bring your own lunch). Transportation will be by carpool (those who wish to offer their car for carpooling will receive a fixed amount to cover mileage costs).
Departure will be from the Abitibi-Price Pavilion on Wednesday morning 16 October and return on Friday afternoon 18 October. Details of the logistics will be sent to registrants a few days before the writing retreat begins.
If you are unable to stay for the duration of the retreat, please arrange your own transport.

- Selection of databases for searching scientific articles
- Developing a search strategy: free and controlled vocabulary
- Structured search strategy based on the recommended methodology for knowledge syntheses
- Tools for ensuring the quality of a literature review
- Overview of the use of artificial intelligence in literature research
