We are thrilled to present the article by Jeremy Piggot Navarrete, a Ph.D. candidate under the supervision of Pierre Blanchet, titled « Hygrothermal and airtightness performance assessment of prefabricated lightweight wall systems for cold climates.» This research is part of the activities of CIRCERB and the Initiative on Industrialized Construction (ICI). The results show that wooden prefabricated wall panels (WPWP) reduce heat loss by 17.8% and air infiltration by 76% compared to traditional walls. The use of polyurethane foam enhances thermal performance but requires proper moisture management. Additionally, hemp fiber insulation in the optimized system improves thermal resistance without the risk of condensation.
