On December 12, 2024, Professor Pierre Blanchet, holder of the Industrial Research Chair on Environmentally Responsible Wood Construction (CIRCERB) and the Canada Research Chair in Sustainable Buildings, as well as an active member of the Renewable Materials Research Centre (RMRC) and the Center of Expertise in Advanced Materials Research (CERMA), took part in a captivating webinar entitled: « New indicators for measuring innovation in the environment: materials as a source of energy efficiency». The event was organized by the Quebec Innovation Council, an organization dedicated to promoting innovative solutions for sustainable development.
The webinar brought together leading experts, including Luciana Gondim de Almeida Guimarães, a former member of CIRCERB and project manager at CIRODD (Interdisciplinary Centre for Research in Operationalizing Sustainable Development). She was joined by Thierry Lefevre, project manager at CIRODD, as well as Francis Vermette, representing Recyc-Québec, an organization dedicated to the management and recycling of materials in Quebec. Philip Mathieu, also from the Conseil de l’innovation du Québec, contributed to moderating and facilitating discussions during the event.
The session addressed new challenges and opportunities related to innovation in the materials sector, with a particular focus on their crucial role in improving energy efficiency in buildings and contributing to a more sustainable environment. The audience had the opportunity to explore new performance indicators, particularly in the context of sustainable building construction and optimized energy resource management.
