Lucie Dehon and Professor Véronic Landry are taking part in an international workshop on bio-based adhesives for wood products!
From August 10 to 14, 2026, in Madison, Wisconsin, United States, student Lucie Dehon and Professor Véronic Landry participated in the first edition of the Protein Adhesive Workshop, organized by the USDA Forest Products Laboratory, a leading research center in the field of forest products.
The event brought together academic researchers, research professionals, and industry partners around a common goal: advancing the development of protein-based adhesives for wood products. Discussions focused on experimental challenges, research needs, and approaches for improving the performance of bio-based adhesives.
The participants also had access to the expertise and specialized facilities of the USDA Forest Products Laboratory, particularly for the characterization of proteins and adhesives and the evaluation of their properties in various wood panel applications.
For Lucie Dehon, this experience provided an opportunity to deepen her knowledge of protein structures and properties while becoming familiar with new approaches to developing protein-based adhesives. She also expanded her scientific network by engaging with specialists in the field from a variety of backgrounds.
For Véronic Landry, the workshop provided an opportunity to strengthen international collaborations and share her expertise with researchers and industry partners. These exchanges contribute to advancing knowledge of protein-based adhesives and opening up new avenues for research.
This joint participation thus highlights the importance of collaboration among academic, government, and industry stakeholders in advancing more sustainable and high-performance solutions for the wood products industry.
