Let’s welcome Mariana Hassegawa, new expert in forest research!

We are pleased to welcome Mariana Hassegawa to the teams of the Canada Research Chair in Silviculture Adapted to Climate Change, led by Alexis Achim, and the Research Chair in Maple Syrup Production and Sugarbush Management, led by Guillaume Moreau.

Mariana, who holds a PhD in Wood Sciences from Université Laval and a Master’s in Forest Engineering from the Federal University of Paraná (Brazil), brings extensive experience in forest research in Canada, Brazil, and Europe. Her work focuses on silviculture, forest management, forest resource assessment, and the resilience of forests and the wood value chain in the face of climate change.

Since May 12, 2025, she has held the position of Research Professional, where her main responsibilities include conducting research projects from design to dissemination of results, preparing grant applications, and supporting the mentoring of students in the Chairs in their training and research projects.
