Launch of the CRMR Support Scholarship – autumn 2024

CRMR SUPPORT BURSARY – AUTUMN 2024 – SECOND AND THIRD CYCLES

Note: Only students who are members of the Renewable Materials Research Centre (CRMR) are eligible for this bursary. They must have a director or co-director who is a regular member of the CRMR.

Deadline: september, 2024 at 4:00 p.m.

Objectives

  • Promote university studies and research related to the Renewable Materials Research Center (CRMR) research areas.
  • Offer financial assistance to graduate students at the end of their studies.

Amount: $5,000 for a semester – a scholarship paid during the 2024 autumn session.

Rules and selection criteria

  • Full-time student admission is required for graduate studies in the autumn 2024 session.
  • Have a director or co-director who is a regular member of the CRMR at Laval University, and be a student member of the CRMR.
  • Have completed at least five sessions for 2nd cycle students and nine sessions for 3rd cycle students.
  • For 3rd cycle students, one manuscript should be published, and a second must be submitted or accepted for publication.
  • Not benefit from any other source of funding.
  • Each student is eligible to receive only one bursary per study program.
  • The winner must provide his/her photo and agree to the event being broadcast on the CRMR website and social networks.

Documents and standards

  • A completed financial precariousness form
  • Description of your research project, including title, objectives, problem, methodology, expected results, potential applications, and industrial spin-offs, written in clear, concise, and accessible language (maximum 2 pages). « Bear in mind that the people evaluating your application may not be experts in your field of research ».
  • Detailed work schedule, including an explanation of how the grant will contribute to the achievement of your studies (maximum 1 page).
  • Recent curriculum vitae (maximum 2 pages).
  • List of scientific achievements.
  • Involvement in the CRMR.
  • Letter of support from your director or co-director who is a regular member of the RCRC-Laval University, including an explanation or justification for the absence of financial support.
  • Copies of your transcripts (undergraduate or equivalent, and graduate, including summer 2024).
  • Proof of registration for the 2024 autumn session.
  • Proof of publication or acceptance for publication of one or more manuscripts (for graduate students only).

Standards: 2 cm minimum margins, single line spacing, “Arial 11” font.

Application assessment grid

  1. Evaluation of student’s financial situation – 20 points
  2. Academic record and scientific achievements – 25 points (Cumulative average; Articles accepted or published in research and transfer journals; Contributions to collective works; Other achievements (conferences, awards, grants, etc.))
  3. CRMR involvement – 15 points
  4. Presentation of project and dossier – 40 points (Quality and content of project description – 15 points, Justification of delay – 5 points; Detailed presentation of timetable – 5 points; Letter of support from your director/co-manager who is a member of the CRMR-Ulaval – 5 points); Presentation of CV – 5 points; and Quality and presentation of dossier as a whole – 5 points).
