23 October 2024

The Renewable Materials Research Center (CRMR) invites you to its annual symposium, which will offer a unique and multidisciplinary program under the theme « Towards a Sustainable Transition: Renewable Materials and the Fight Against Climate Change!». This event will occur in person on October 23, 2024, from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM, at the Gene-H.-Kruger Pavilion (Rooms 2320-2330) at Laval University in Quebec City.

The symposium aims to bring together CRMR members and experts from various sectors to discuss the challenges and opportunities related to ecological transition, focusing on scientific innovation, renewable materials, and sustainable practices. It will feature a student poster session, conferences, and a panel discussion covering a wide range of topics with expertise from various disciplines relevant to the theme of the event.

The main topics will include:

  • Current State of Ecological Transition: Recent achievements and current challenges in adopting ecological materials and practices.
  • Perspectives: Technological innovations to accelerate ecological transition and the role of public policies in promoting sustainable practices.
  • Transition from Graduation to Employment : Exploration of the skills required for new graduates and the evolving job market.

Your participation and ideas will be invaluable in enriching the discussions and contributing to the success of this event. To confirm your attendance, please complete this registration form. The registration deadline for the symposium is October 6, 2024. Registration is free but required to participate!

We look forward to sharing enriching moments of reflection and exchange on the different themes of the symposium.

All members (research, technical and administrative staff, professors or student community) must register to participate in the event. Students are also invited to take part in a poster session to present their research projects.

Poster Competition:

During the day, a student poster competition will be held to allow you to present your research projects. This competition is open to all master’s and doctoral students, regardless of the stage of their projects (beginning, mid-course, or completed). Three prizes will be awarded to the top three posters: $350, $250, and $150.

The key criteria for preparing posters include:

  • The poster must be well communicated, with content that is clear and accessible to a diverse audience, including individuals from various research fields.
  • The poster should include the following sections: Introduction, Methodology, Results (or Expected Results based on project progress), and Conclusions.
  • The conclusion should highlight the impact of the project and/or potential industrial applications.
  • Format: Posters created for previous events in a horizontal format are acceptable. However, for new posters, please prepare them in a vertical format (91.4 x 121.2 cm) to facilitate management during the event.
  • Posters can be in French or English.
  • Posters will be evaluated based on aesthetics, scientific communication level, clarity, and the quality of the scientific content presented.

Dear students, we highly encourage you to participate in the poster session of our symposium, as it is an excellent opportunity to present your projects, receive constructive feedback, and network with experts. It is also a chance to win attractive prizes and showcase your research. Register by September 31, 2024, at 4 PM using the registration form. We will confirm your registration and provide more details after the registration period.
