We are pleased to invite you to an inspiring conference by Maman Joyce Dogba, full professor at the Faculty of Medicine, Université Laval, recognized for her exceptional commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) in research and health systems.

During this conference, Maman Joyce Dogba will share her personal and scientific journey, her multi-continental experience, as well as the foundations and impact of the Robbins-Ollivier Project, an award-winning initiative aimed at transforming academic environments through innovative approaches to equity.

The event will take place on Friday, November 28, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, in a hybrid format (in-person and via Zoom).

About Maman Joyce Dogba

Maman Joyce Dogba is a full professor and former Director of Global and Planetary Health at the Faculty of Medicine, Université Laval (ULaval), Quebec, Canada. She is recognized for her expertise in public health, health services organization and evaluation, global health, interprofessional collaboration, and health equity.

Originally from Africa, she earned her medical degree from the University of Lomé (Togo), followed by a postgraduate diploma (DESS) in health economics in Senegal, and a PhD in public health at the University of Montreal. She completed a postdoctoral fellowship at McGill University and the Shriners Hospital in Montreal focusing on social inequalities in oral health.

Since joining ULaval, Maman Joyce Dogba has combined teaching, research, and student mentorship. Her work focuses on evaluating and organizing health services, interprofessional collaboration, global health, and social health inequalities, particularly among children, adolescents, and immigrant or Indigenous populations. She also contributes to developing inclusive and intercultural approaches in medicine, thereby strengthening health equity both locally and internationally.

Her multi-continental experience and commitment to inclusion and diversity make her a model for equity, diversity, and inclusion in academia. She has helped establish EDI (Equity, Diversity, Inclusion) committees at ULaval and was awarded the Robbins-Ollivier Award for Excellence in Equity in 2023. In September 2022, she was appointed Director of Global and Planetary Health at Université Laval, a strategic role that allows her to guide health policies and projects at both local and international levels. Recently, she was named a member of the Quebec Council on the Status of Women and also serves on the board of Santé Monde, further consolidating her influence in female governance and global health.

Maman Joyce Dogba is also recognized for her leadership in training health professionals and for initiatives that involve people in care and research. Her work combines scientific rigour, social commitment, and global vision, making her a leading figure in public and global health.
