Half-day welcome for new graduate students!

The Département des sciences du bois et de la forêt (SBF) and the Association des étudiants.es gradué.es en foresterie de l’Université Laval (AFOR) are co-hosting a welcome half-day for new graduate students – on the afternoon of September 11. This half-day is an opportunity to meet AFOR’s Board and Departments’ employees in person. Here is the preliminary schedule for this half-day event:

 Presentation – Local GHK-2320-2330 – 1:00 pm – 2:30 pm

• General welcome & Ice Breaker – Claude, 15 min
• Presentation of AFOR (Board of Directors and roles) – Antoine and other AFOR members, 15 min
• Meeting with the local speaker – Olivier, 15 min
• Overall presentation of the SBF department (structure and services) – Claude and Benoit, 45 min
• Forêt Montmorency – Yannick Dufour, 5 min
• Presentation of research centers :
  • CRMR – Besma Bouslimi, 5 min
  • CEF – Marta Alonso Garcia, 5 min

Tour of the premises:

1st floor: Communications Office, VDR, SCRIPT, P’tit CAAF, VDE (10 min) / Ground floor GHK and offices.

2nd floor: CEF, student premises, department manager, secretariat, FM, free office (10 min)

A second meeting will be held in October, which will include a visit to the laboratories:

• Visit to GHK laboratories – Guide: Benoit, 45 min.
• Visit to ABP laboratories and greenhouses – Guide: Claude, 45 min

• Itinerary :
• 4th floor: Indicate where the ecophysiology and entomology laboratories are located (10 min), soil chemistry laboratories (Patrick, 10min)
  • Basement: Equipment loan, computer rooms, freezer (10 min)
  • Greenhouses & growth chamber (François, 10 min)

Then, we will head to the Faculty BBQ activity!
