Congratulations to Claudie-Maude Canuel for the publication of her recent article in the prestigious journal Forestry. This article not only captured the attention of experts in the field but was also honored with the title of Editor’s Choice, a distinction that highlights the excellence and impact of her research.

Claudie-Maude, a PhD student in Forest Sciences, is working under the supervision of Evelyne Thiffault and the co-supervision of Nelson Thiffault on «Forest biomass recovery for bioenergy as a silvicultural treatment in Quebec’s forests ». In this study, Claudie-Maude and her team explored a critical topic for sustainable forest management: the factors influencing post-harvest regeneration in Canada’s boreal and temperate forests. Their in-depth analysis revealed that, contrary to common belief, it is not solely the intensity of harvesting that determines regeneration but primarily the characteristics of the forest stands. These findings provide valuable insights for forest managers, enabling them to implement more tailored practices to ensure the sustainable regeneration of forest ecosystems.

Claudie-Maude has distinguished herself by her passion, scientific rigor and exceptional analytical skills throughout this project. This recognition is a well-deserved reward for her high-quality work.
