🍻 « Let’s toast to bio-based adhesives »! Discover Alex Mary’s exciting project exploring how food industry waste can replace traditional adhesives in wood construction.
Alex Mary, a doctoral student in wood and biobased materials engineering under the supervision of Pierre Blanchet and Véronic Landry, is conducting innovative research to valorize food by-products and create eco-friendly, sustainable adhesives. Her project is part of a sustainable development approach aimed at reducing the construction industry’s carbon footprint. By using biobased materials, Alex aims to offer an alternative to synthetic adhesives often derived from petrochemical products, thus contributing to greener, more environmentally-friendly construction.
This innovative approach allowed Alex to stand out in the « My thesis in 180 seconds » final at the Faculty, where she captivated the jury with the clarity and relevance of her presentation. She also won the « Coup de cœur du public» award at the finals at Université Laval, demonstrating the enthusiasm and interest generated by her work among the audience.
