Alexis Achim’s team welcomes Maxime Parot, expert in chemical wood processing! September 22, 2025

17 December 2025

Alexis Achim’s research team is pleased to welcome Maxime Parot as a Research Professional since September 2025. Holding a PhD in Wood Science and Engineering and Bio-based Materials from Université Laval, Maxime specializes in the chemical processing of wood and its molecular components, bringing valuable expertise for the development of innovative and sustainable materials. He also completed a postdoctoral fellowship within the same team, further strengthening his knowledge of ongoing projects.

Since 2022, Maxime has shared his expertise with the next generation of scientists by teaching the course “Chemistry of Wood and Plants” at Université Laval. He also actively participates in scientific dissemination through presentations at various conferences, helping to promote advances in wood and bio-based materials research.

In his current role, Maxime supervises students, coordinates team meetings, and leads a collaborative research project in partnership with Kruger and other industry stakeholders. This innovative project aims to valorize cellulose, a natural component of wood, to develop new products with high application potential. Among these innovations, a cellulose filament-based gel designed for fire prevention illustrates the tangible link between fundamental research and applied industrial solutions.

Maxime’s arrival strengthens Alexis Achim’s team expertise in bio-based materials and opens the door to new scientific and industrial collaborations, contributing both to technological progress and environmental sustainability.
