Alexander Salenikovich at Thornton Tomasetti: solid wood construction!

25 June 2024

In 2022, Thornton Tomasetti completed the construction of  « The Ascent »,  a hybrid timber-concrete skyscraper in Milwaukee in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, which became the world’s tallest timber building, boasting 25 stories and standing at 284 feet tal.

On April 22, 2024, Professor Alexander Salenikovich was invited to Thornton Tomasetti‘s office in Chicago by the company’s vice president, Alejandro Fernandez, to discuss mass timber construction with the engineering team. Approximately one hundred team members were invited to the conference, both in person and remotely from across the United States.

The conference was followed by a question-and-answer session focused on the design of connections for the company’s upcoming project, « The Edison », also located in Milwaukee. This ambitious project is planned to have 35 stories and reach a height of 375 feet.

Subsequently, Alexander visited « The Ascent » accompanied by Jordan Komp, the Milwaukee office director and lead engineer for both the Ascent and Edison projects.

Well done Alexander and all the best!
