Biography: Réjean Drouin has been an active member of the International Wood Collectors Society (IWCS) since 1983 and currently serves as the Canadian representative within this international organization. Founded over 75 years ago, the IWCS emerged from the dispersal of prestigious university xylaria—particularly those of Yale, Harvard, and Chicago—whose collections were partially opened to the public. Today, the association brings together wood enthusiasts from around fifteen countries, organized into regional chapters.

As the Canadian representative, Réjean Drouin plays a key role in promoting IWCS activities, including regional gatherings, conferences, demonstrations, and rare wood auctions. He also contributes to the distribution of the association’s bimonthly magazine, a full-color publication that highlights the technical, scientific, and cultural contributions of its members.

Over the decades, he has built an impressive wood collection from all five continents, showcasing the richness and diversity of the plant kingdom worldwide. His involvement in the IWCS reflects a long-standing commitment to the knowledge, appreciation, and sharing of a passion for wood—both nationally and internationally.
