Faculty-level « three-minute thesis » competition!

The 2026 edition of the faculty-level «three-minute thesis » competition took place on March 16 in the Gilbert-Tardif Hall of the Gene-H.-Kruger Pavilion.

We warmly congratulate the seven participants in the French-language segment and the seven participants in the English-language segment, who took on this demanding challenge requiring courage, rigour, and preparation.

Winners of the Evening

  • Sara Etminanrezaeieh (supervisor: Véronic Landry), winner of the Best English Presentation Award for The Hidden Power of Lignin – $180, offered by the CRMR
  • Marie-Anne Michaud-Valcourt, winner of the Best French Presentation Award for Quand la forêt encaisse – $180, offered by the CRDIG
  • Vicky Martin (supervisor: Alexis Achim), winner of the Audience Choice Award for Quand le feu s’invite à l’étage, also accompanied by a $180 prize – offered by the CEF

We extend our sincere thanks to the Faculty of Forestry, Geography, and Geomatics, the Forestry Science Week (SSF), the Renewable Materials Research Centre (CRMR), the Forest Research Centre (CEF), and the Centre for Research in Geospatial Data and Intelligence (CRDIG), whose commitment greatly contributed to the success of this event. We express our deep gratitude to all participants for taking on this challenge with courage and dedication. Université Laval Final of the «three-minute thesis » Competition!

During the institutional competition held on March 23 at Université Laval, the Faculty of Forestry, Geography, and Geomatics (FFGG) was represented by:

  • Jonathan-Kusa Kimbukusu (CEF, supervised by Jean-Michel Beaudoin), for the French-language segment, with Can the Forest Hire Differently with Indigenous Peoples? – $180 award, offered by FFGG
  • Sara Etminanrezaeieh (CRMR, supervised by Véronic Landry), for the English-language segment, with The Hidden Power of Lignin

We especially congratulate Sara Etminanrezaeieh, who won the Audience Choice Award (accompanied by a $250 prize) at the university final.
