Congratulations to Anass Ait Benhamou, postdoctoral researcher under the supervision of Véronic Landry, for his exceptional presentation titled « Modified Lignin for Enhancing the Properties of Particleboard Containing UF Resin » at ACS Spring 2025, a prestigious event held in San Diego, USA, from March 23 to 27, 2025. This was a valuable opportunity for him to present his work in a high-level academic setting, in the field of bio-based materials and cellulose sciences.
Anass presented his work during the session « Lignin Aggregation as a Basis for High-Performance Materials: Applications of Self-Assembled Lignin Structures,» an avant-garde and highly relevant session, part of the Cellulose and Renewable Materials Division. This session explored the exceptional properties of lignin, a key component of biomass, and its potential as a foundation for the development of sustainable, high-performance, and innovative materials. The application of modified lignin to improve the properties of particleboard is a crucial topic, particularly in the current context where the industry is aiming to reduce its ecological footprint and integrate more renewable materials.
This accomplishment not only reflects the quality and impact of his research, but also his involvement in cutting-edge research aimed at opening new paths for bio-based materials in the wood and construction industries. Anass has thus contributed to a global conversation on how to reinvent and improve lignin-based materials, which is critical for a more sustainable future.
Once again, congratulations to Anass for this impressive achievement, and a special thank you to the Wood-Based Composite Research Consortium for their financial support, which made this opportunity possible.
