On Thursday, March 6, the Corepan-Bois team had the opportunity to visit Tafisa Canada’s facilities in Lac-Mégantic, a major player in the particleboard industry. This visit allowed Corepan-Bois to dive into the heart of the manufacturing process of raw and laminated particleboards, discovering key production stages and the innovations that set Tafisa apart in this sector.
A key highlight of the visit was learning about the integration of recycled wood into production, particularly through the ReWood process. This sustainable approach enables the company to contribute actively to the circular economy while reducing its environmental footprint and optimizing resource use. The team also had the opportunity to discuss current challenges and innovations shaping the future of particleboard production while closely observing the cutting-edge technologies used in the plant.
This visit aligns perfectly with the training objectives for students, a priority for Corepan-Bois. It underscores the importance of offering hands-on, immersive experiences that enhance their understanding of technologies and sustainable practices in the wood industry. These learning experiences not only allow students to deepen their knowledge but also prepare them to tackle future challenges and drive innovation in an ever-evolving sector.
A big thank you to Louis-Philippe Viens for his warm welcome, as well as to Jean-François Brassard and Jean-René Landry for their time, detailed explanations, and availability. Their passion for their profession and expertise were key elements in enriching this visit.
This experience reinforced Corepan-Bois’ appreciation for the importance of innovation in wood product manufacturing and highlighted the necessity of integrating practical training into the development of students’ skills.
