Have you ever experienced discrimination or microaggressions because of your race, gender, age, or abilities? Have you ever struggled with a lack of belonging in new places? Do you feel a sense of empathy and a desire to help others?

The EDI-CRMR and CERMA Committee is actively committed to promoting equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) while cultivating a true sense of belonging within our community. We invite you to participate in this unique opportunity to learn more about our goals, activities and concrete initiatives. Take advantage of this opportunity to deepen your knowledge of the fundamentals of EDI, explore new perspectives and ask your questions in a collaborative and caring environment.

Entitled « Breaking down barriers, building bridges: EDI at the heart of our collective actions!», this presentation will highlight the importance of EDI, identifying systemic barriers and exploring ways of integrating EDI within our organization, in order to strengthen everyone’s sense of belonging. She will also present the EDI Committee, its current and future projects, and scholarship opportunities aimed at promoting inclusivity.

The conference will be led by three passionate doctoral students, winners of recent scholarship competitions and active contributors to key projects for the EDI Committee:

  • Vahideh Akbari, PhD student in Wood and Biobased Material Engineering, originally from Iran. Her academic career marked by experiences of discrimination, combined with her commitment to equity, prompted her to share her experiences and reflections during this presentation.
  • Liza Abid, also a doctoral student in Wood and Biobased Material Engineering, originally from Algeria. Her commitment to promoting a sense of belonging among the center’s new members led her to become an active member of the EDI-CRMR-CERMA Committee and to take part in this conference.
  • Maylis Carrère, PhD student in Wood and Biobased Material Engineering, originally from France. She firmly believes that the inclusion of people of all abilities is essential to the success of any organization. She will share her project to address this crucial issue.

We look forward to seeing many of you there to enrich the EDI discussion! Together, we can create an environment where every member, regardless of background, feels respected, included and valued.
