The Laval University Library invites you to a training session on advanced documentary research. This session will help you effectively structure a search strategy, maximize the use of specialized databases, and improve the quality of your literature reviews by applying certain methods derived from knowledge synthesis. The session will also include an overview of the use of artificial intelligence in literature research.

This activity is organized by the Renewable Materials Research Centre and the Chaire de leadership en enseignement en foresterie autochtone (CLEFA), in collaboration with the Laval University Library.

Target audience: Graduate students, faculty, and research staff of the Faculty of Forestry, Geography, and Geomatics.

Training Content:

  • Advanced search in Sofia, using the Subject Headings Directory
  • Selection of databases for searching scientific articles
  • Developing a search strategy: free and controlled vocabulary
  • Structured search strategy based on the recommended methodology for knowledge syntheses
  • Tools for ensuring the quality of a literature review
  • Overview of the use of artificial intelligence in literature research
